A technique where a thematic pattern is drawn and or transferred to a mat board and then carved into the board usually with an exacto knife, by hand. Thematic meaning a specific design aspect of the art, a border or a floral pattern.
	The top mat has hand carved poinsettias, complementing the cross stitched Christmas angel
	Owner Peter Lampros developed this technique in an effort to offer something not too many other framers in the area could or would. Practitioners of this art are sometimes referred to as "the brotherhood of the white knuckle"
