The
inter-island ferry you are traveling on comes rapidly up on the
dock, you think you're going to collide and then the engines reverse
and it gently comes to a stop, magically, not even a bump. The
deck hands hold the ropes and the passengers disembark. The line
of people waiting quickly board and it seems that almost before
it's settled in the water the ropes are cast off and with a roar
of the engines it's off again to the next stop. An aquatic bus
stop. There in front of you is yet another enchanting sea-side
village, tavernas and shops along the quay, tiny foot paths winding
up between the white-washed buildings toward the mountain sitting
majestically behind. The contrast of the deep blue water, the
cerulean sky, and the billowing white clouds with the myriad of
colorful flowers, doors, shutters and domes of the roofs is mesmerizing.
If only you could bring this home.
